Founders College is progressing very nicely since their announcement back in November 2006 of plans to purchase Berry Hill Plantation. Numerous open houses have been held for interested students entering in September 2007. Founders College selected the Berry Hill site based on its close proximity to the Research Triangle Corridor in North Carolina.

One significant milestone reached was the boundary adjustment to bring all of the Berry Hill and Harris property into South Boston. Unanimous approval was granted at a South Boston Town Council meeting held on February 12, 2007. Tamara Fuller, the college's Chief Strategy Officer stated the rezoning “will be beneficial to the town and the county.”

A total of 223 acres of land currently zoned R-1 single family residential was requested by Founders to be rezoned to Planned Development Residential (PDR). Founders College is in the process of purchasing this property owned by Eva Harris. Fuller said “we are very pleased with the support of local residents and are looking forward to getting down to business and starting work to get business and economic development going her in Halifax County. We want to thank the local residents who have so generously supported us in this venture.

Founders College will hold an open house on Saturday, March 10, 2007. Please visit www.foundercollege.com for more information. Founders College is an innovative, residential liberal arts and business school that is located in beautiful South Boston, Virginia.
