The Prizery has hired Pat Anderson-Flowers as its new managing director.
For the past 27 years, Anderson-Flowers has worked at Birmingham Southern College where she started as a faculty member in the Theatre Arts department and ended as an assistant vice president of Institutional Advancement for the college.
Her professional experience also includes time as the Artistic and Educational Outreach director of the Birmingham Children's Theatre.
"We are very lucky to have found Pat," said Matt Leonard, vice president of The Prizery, who led the search. "It took a year and national reach to make sure we had the right person.
"Pat brings the critical mix of organizational management, fund raising and development and the experience we need to build on the hard work and progress of our already dedicated staff and volunteers."
The role of the managing director is to optimize The Prizery's mission and facility use. This requires a close, productive working relationship with its long-time Artistic Director Chris Jones, other staff and community stakeholders.
"Pat has a known track record with fund raising," said Jones "and a love for the theatre. We are all looking forward to her arrival and her becoming a valued member of The Prizery's team."
Anderson-Flowers has visited Halifax County twice and met with Prizery Board members, partner organization representatives and staff during the search process.
"The Prizery is an amazing arts organization," she said "with a beautiful facility. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with such a dedicated staff and board. I look forward to joining The Prizery staff and becoming a part of the South Boston-Halifax County community."
The new director will arrive in South Boston this week and she begins her full time duties on March 22. She will be officially greeted at a reception with The Prizery's board members, staff and partner organizations on March 21.
