Grand Opening of Gloster Furniture, Inc.

Gloster Furniture, Inc will hold a Grand Opening of its new facility at 1075 Fulp Industrial Road in South Boston, VA on Monday, March 31, 2008 at 4:30pm-5:30pm. The building (the former O’Sullivan Industries building) is 670,000 square feet located in the Halifax County Industrial Park. The move enabled Gloster to consolidate its sales, customer support and distribution operations under one roof.

Petty Enterprises Donates Cars to VIPER

The Virginia Institute for Performance and Engineering Research (VIPER) was the recipient of two retired No. 43 Nextel Cup race cars from Petty Enterprises for research tools. The cars were donated by Richard Petty and son Kyle to VIPER for use by mechanical engineering graduate students pursuing degrees at VIPER. The facility is located at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) in Halifax County, VA.

Halifax County re-designated as VA Enterprise Zone Community

Governor Kaine has approved Halifax County’s application for re-designation as a Virginia Enterprise Zone community. Qualifying entities located within the defined boundaries of the Halifax County Enterprise Zone are eligible to receive state-based grants in return for investments in real property and for job creation. In addition, there are a series of local incentives available from the County of Halifax and the Town of South Boston.

New Chassis Dyno Facility Moves VIR Forward

A new chassis dynamometer lab under construction in the paddock at Virginia International Raceway will take the Alton racing facility another step forward towards becoming a comprehensive motorsports testing facility.  The facility, which will cost an estimated $1 million, will be known as the VIPER dynamometer Lab.
