Danville, VA — Today, the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research, Virginia Tech, and Old Dominion University announced a collaborative agreement bringing together resources to benefit the Virginia Institute for Performance Engineering and Research (VIPER).

Cherokee Tobacco Company Moves Cigarette Manufacturing to Halifax County At Virginia Brands
Halifax County, VA -- Cherokee Tobacco Company LLC is moving its cigarette manufacturing operations to Halifax County to the Virginia Brands Plant on Bill Tuck Highway. This completes Cherokee’s move to Halifax County that began in December 2004 when they moved 36 jobs here.
Halifax County tourism program will receive more than $86,000 in grants in an effort to spur increased visitation.
Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced more than $3.2 million in matching grant and sponsorship funds on Monday to kick off National Travel & Tourism Week.
The money is part of the part of the Virginia Tourism Corporation’s Regional Marketing, Marketing Leverage, and VA250 Marketing Leverage programs.
A total of 236 tourism programs in the state received grants.
Locally, the Community Arts Center Foundation — doing business as The Prizery — will get $15,000 for its Dance and Dine Series.
